The URM and Safeway Janitorial units have ratified record
economic settlements — a real tribute to these Negotiating Committees
in these challenging times. On the subject of Negotiating Committees,
special thanks is due to UFCW Local 1439 Business Rep Ron Banka for
his stellar work in helping us obtain a ratified renewal of the 1439
Reps agreement. His experience and wherewithall was invaluable. Renewal
negotiations for Fairmount Memorial cemetery workers and Co-Op Supply
cashiers and tank drivers are ongoing.
